Cyclone Trevor trolls northern Queensland

A cyclone has formed near Northern Queensland and has been named 'Trevor' by Australian forecasters. The storm is expected to linger all week bringing rainfall totals of over 200mm for some locations already drenched by recent rain events and floods so far this year.

Wednesday sees a cooler sou’west change for the lower South Island but most other parts of New Zealand have warmer than average sub-tropical northerly quarter breezes.

It's likely a couple of tropical cyclones will form north of New Zealand over the next 10 days as conditions favour development of storms around the Solomon Sea, Coral Sea and also the Pacific between northern NZ and Fiji. 

There is some threat to NZ even if confidence levels are currently low at around 25%.
