Hi Phil.
Iβm looking at the Hamilton Forecast (other cities as well) for next week and these high temperatures must be close to meet the NZ Met requirements of an official heatwave. (+5 c for 5 days). Is that correct? Are the high sea temperatures anomalies around the NI and in the North Tasman sea a major cause? If so I would have thought the media dramatists would be all over this by now.
Cheers, and keep up the good work.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to say you guys do an amazing job. WW is my go to for weather forecasting over and above the met service. The vast majority of the time you guys are spot on, and have saved so many wasted trips with the family so I genuinely am thankful.
Keep up the amazing work,
Kind regards
Allie

Guys, a small complaint.
Over the last year or so, I have noticed that when I refresh the web page/app to get the latest rainfall amount for a location (have experimented with about 10 locations, including my local area of Takapuna), it wonβt always update to the current time, and often goes back 30 minutes to up to and hour and a half before, so we arenβt able to see the most up to date rainfall amount. Not sure if you guys are aware of this but I thought I would let you know. Cheers.

Hi Aaron, is this to do with rainfall that has already fallen β or rainfall that is forecast to yet fall?
Cheers

Hi Philip,
This is to do with the accumulated rainfall that has already fallen. In the past you would get the latest data to the minute whenever you refreshed the page. Now itβs hit and miss. Sometimes it happens, often it doesnβt and you will get the data from an hour ago for example.
Thanks Phil.

Hi Aaron, the observational data is our biggest expense to display (because the NZ Government via MetService and Niwa donβt give us open access to historical data like other nations do, so we have to purchase it and host the data ourselves). To ensure we can display more observations we have to find a balance in costs to do this β so some weather observations are delayed by 30 to 60 minutes when it comes to *historical* data. On top of that, not all weather stations update equally β some update every minute, others once an hour. Weβre working with MetService in the hopes we can access tax funded observations in real time β but weβre not there yet. This is the best middle ground we can find in that area.
Kind regards
Philip Duncan

What a great weather setup, easy-to-use and understand. I do check the forecast a few times and checking manly for changes as we have a reasonable size vegetable garden which is used all year round. We rely on a water gauge to check for overnight rain. If there was a place that I could fill in for the amount of rain for the past 24hrs I could do that. Once again what a great forecast report.
