How much snow is invercargill getting? Because other forecasts are saying 10cms and comparing this storm to the September 2010 one?!

Hi Nick, the problem with being accurate in totals is that this event is a mixture of rain and snow, it’s right on the borderline at sea level but it may well start to accumulate So it’s hard to lock in totals, but 10cms is possible inland but if rain is in the mix then that will alter totals. How much snow are we expecting in invercargill? Some stations saying 10cm + while others saying just a dusting. Looks like the storm lasts for 2 days so we should get a bit wouldn’t you think? Thanks

Should be a dusting of snow in Invers, but hard to know just how much at this stage. Tuesday looks to be the coldest day.

Hi there. Can you advise me please. I have to travel over the Kaimais from Tauranga to Hamilton Saturday about 10am and then return on Sunday at approx the same time. My car is a Honda Civic which seems to get ‘buffeted’ by wind. Is it going to be pretty darn windy over the Kaimais do you think on either Sat mid morn or Sun mid morn? Thanks very much. Lee

Saturday mid morning no worries, just a light to moderate northerly. Sunday mid morning however winds are going to be quite strong from the north / northwest around that time. Late morning or around midday winds start to back off though as winds tend more WNW, still gusty at times but should ease a touch further into the afternoon. Dry weather on Saturday, very wet on Sunday morning then easing to showers from afternoon.
Hope that helps!
