i hear damage in the lower nth island. and winds already strong in auckland getting gales soon i bet. so auckland is somehow affected by the weather bomb. had a few downpours too. i imagined thunder cause thres no thunder in auckland.

Hi WW, I just want to know what is the main difference between rain and showers? How can I differentiate or tell if it is rain or a shower?

WW Forecast Team on 28/09/2020 10:50am

Hi Obai

Here’s an article from Phil here on WW back in 2018 🙂

Is invercargill set to get snow tonight/tomorrow? Didn’t really get much today only a couple of snow showers

WW Forecast Team on 28/09/2020 10:47am

Hi Jono

Snow is looking more likely towards dawn tomorrow and during Tuesday itself. Remember, Invercargill gets caught in a bit of a rain shadow due to Stewart Island so while conditions may be favourable the wind direction can determine whether snow will actually get into Invercargill itself.

Good luck!

WW
