Before asking a question:

For over a decade WeatherWatch.co.nz has loved to receive your comments and questions here, however we need to tighten up on our rules of reply so that we can spend more time focusing on forecasting.

Before you ask a question please ensure you have read our latest news stories, weather video and specially made infographics on our homepage, as we will no longer be answering questions that are already generally answered there, or answered already in our hourly or 10 day forecasts at both WeatherWatch.co.nz or RuralWeather.co.nz

Bob on 21/11/2020 10:02am

I always find it amusing when forcasters say 50 per cent chance of rain, so it might rain or it might not. 🤣

WW Forecast Team on 21/11/2020 10:56pm

Hi Bob, you’re not the only one!! Try and look at it as a MODERATE risk rather than a ‘flip of a coin’ 50/50 situation 🙂 Where we can we usually alter it to say 45 or 55 so that people have a slightly clearer picture.
🙂
Cheers!

Thoughts on Queenstown from the 27th to the 1st? Seems like quite a mixture of clouds and rain at this early stage. Was hoping for some sun!

WW Forecast Team on 21/11/2020 10:58pm

Hi James, keep an eye on http://www.RuralWeather.co.nz as it may be helpful when planning. Right now it’s looking a little changeable but the windflows are positive for getting some sun in there 🙂 RuralWeather has cloud cover forecasts as well (hourly for 10 days out)… we also now include the chance of cloud in our HOURLY forecasts for Queenstown at WeatherWatch.co.nz.
All the best for your trip!

Are you planning to update the video at any stage? Halloween has long passed, and we are halfway through November….

WW Forecast Team on 16/11/2020 9:52pm

Hi there, as that video said we’re taking a two week break. Back today with our videos though!

Morning I have been watching your forecast now for a awhile and you seen to have followed metservices led of always predicting rain in last 4 days of extended the forecast. Which never arrives. Why rain is ever predicted from west on east coast always amuses me.
Regards

WW Forecast Team on 15/11/2020 9:34pm

Hi Matt, Unlike MetService, WeatherWatch (and RuralWeather.co.nz) provides you with hourly rainfall totals and % of rain for your local/specific part of NZ. Usually that helps you work out if it’s really a wet day, or just the risk of a small shower or two. Unlike MetService you don’t fund us with taxes – we’re a 100% free service but offer more public data than all 3 Government forecasters combined.

hey guys i wanna say well done with your forecasting this week with the auckland thunderstorms (yay) and the napier flooding disaster (oh no) you did good coverage on the low event. i will refer to your site as lockdown might be looming again 🙁

WW Forecast Team on 13/11/2020 2:10am

Hey Josh – thanks heaps for that. Good to see the alert level isn’t changing (yet). Appreciate the kind words and supportive message – thanks for taking the time to write in.
Cheers
Phil D
