For over a decade WeatherWatch.co.nz has loved to receive your comments and questions here, however we need to tighten up on our rules of reply so that we can spend more time focusing on forecasting.
Before you ask a question please ensure you have read our latest news stories, weather video and specially made infographics on our homepage, as we will no longer be answering questions that are already generally answered there, or answered already in our hourly or 10 day forecasts at both WeatherWatch.co.nz or RuralWeather.co.nz

Hi guys, nothing to say except commending the new look of the rural weather website, looks very clean and crisp and all the information somehow looks clearer. Not sure if you changed fonts but speaking as an educator it is very easy on the eyes. Cheers, Tom

Hi there,
just a small technical issue to report on what is otherwise a great weather forecasting service. For the past week or two the WW app on my mobile device has not been picking up any current data for my location β Welcome Bay, Tauranga. On my computer itβs picking up from Judea which is a wee way from Welcome Bay, just wondering if thatβs the nearest weather station?
Also, When I open up WW on my laptop it is defaulting to Tauranga, rather than Welcome Bay, which I have marked as my favourite. Can I correct this somehow so that it automatically defaults to Welcome Bay? Many thanks, Penny

Hi Penny. Weather stations do go offline from time to time and so on the mobile app it may be giving you the next closest station instead. Regarding setting your favourite to Welcome Bay, this only affects the top right of the homepage which gives you a brief forecast for your favourite locations. However, over on RuralWeather.co.nz, that site remembers the last location you viewed and returns to that location on your next visit. WeatherWatch.co.nz does not have that feature but allows you to save your favourites instead, although we may add that as a future feature request. If you have any further technical issues please get in touch with us, with screenshots, at technical@weatherwatch.co.nz

Is your forecast identical to Weather Underground for the same location? Both showing the same IBM forecast?

Hi Philip, the data is similar but ours is more detailed and fine tuned, with hourly updates to our hourly data. We also display a lot more data at http://www.RuralWeather.co.nz and is currently free to access. Wunderground is owned by IBM.

Hi, I always wanted to know what does it mean in βrain: 0.6mmβ, etc?
So if my camping tent is rain resistant 3000mm, would the tent survive? Lol

Hi Guys β Iβm looking at holding an outdoor party on Anniversary weekend in Auckland. I know its a fair way out but is there any significant nasty weather on the horizon that may roll in or too far out?

Hi Gerry,
At this stage itβs a little too far away to lock in, but there is a chance that La Nina easterlies will return with increased warmth. No sign of rain yet, Auckland is still leaning drier than average despite the showers coming up. Will have a better idea by the end of this week/this weekend.
Cheers
