ClimateWatch: NOVEMBER outlook, El Niño & IOD

El Niño is going to peak over NOVEMBER & DECEMBER and now there is a Positive IOD (Indian Ocean Dipole) which may see Australia’s weather dry out a little further in some locations (inland areas perhaps) – although the Positive IOD is fairly weak and short lived.

But spring is active, more so this year because of El Niño, and that is still bringing in plenty of rain and downpour events to southern and eastern Australia and NZ’s West Coast.

Lows are still in the mix for NZ and Australia – but we are seeing some locations dry out fast in NZ’s North Island, but Australia is having too much rain in some states (like Victoria).

November sees no major weather pattern shift from October – meaning cold fronts and bursts of windier westerlies are expected, but perhaps with some quieter/drier days in between.

We also cover the South Pacific islands and 15 day rainfall there, along with NZ and Australia in detail.

ClimateWatch is not a specific weather forecast – it is more a focus on the main climate drivers that shape our weather patterns.
