A settled weekend is on the way and apart from a few isolated showers in both main islands many regions are dry or mainly dry.
The anticyclone crossing the country over the coming days will grow even larger next week south-east of NZ, guiding a new tropical low (that might become a tropical cyclone for a time near New Caledonia) into the central Tasman Sea, where a southerly out of Australia will help make it a larger storm system.
How it precisely affects New Zealand is not locked in yet – but severe gales and heavy West Coast are possible at the end of next week, but the very powerful anticyclone south-east of NZ may play a big role in the future tracking of this low in the NZ area – and which areas get severe weather.
We’ll know more in our Monday update if NZ will have severe weather later next week, or not. Have a great weekend!
