High pressure comes back, rainfall reduces, temps lift, winds ease for many

Following the severe weather over the last week, this week and weekend look a lot more settled in most regions as high pressure finally sits over the nation.

The high pressure isn’t overly powerful and so we may still get showers, isolated thunderstorms, and even a little bit of wind in some areas by Thursday – but compared to the past week it will be much more settled with minimal chance of severe weather.

We’re monitoring the tropics – low pressure zones around Fiji may form into tropical storms as we go into February, but for now they are well away from NZ.

Monday next week, Feb 2, we may get a burst of windier weather and western and southern rain as high pressure slips east of NZ, so make the most of the final week of weather in January!
