VIDEO: Storm tracks past NZ, then hotter weather returns

A major storm in the Southern Ocean brings gales and some rain to NZ over Friday and Saturday – but clears by Sunday as high pressure and hotter nor’westers return. By Sunday and Monday many places will be more settled – although Cook Strait/Wellington and Southland/Fiordland still look windier or more unsettled in the week ahead.

Waitangi Day looks settled – or at least dry – for many regions with mild to hot afternoons.

We have your forecast through to Thursday next week.

Programming Notes:
– Our next video is on MONDAY
– We have NO VIDEOS on TUESDAY due to Waitangi Day in New Zealand
– Back again WEDNESDAY

We have had some pretty good, settled days here in Christchurch, yes some scorchers, but not too much wind and rain. Feels like a proper summer, and haven’t had to use the heat pump for weeks.
Love the nights being a bit cooler as well.
Currently grey and raining, nice steady rain, not heavy. Good for the garden.
A bit cooler, and am awaiting the thunderstorm/possible hail later on, appreciate the heads up so I can secure items and move plants into shelter.
Tomorrow and Monday look like hot days, but that’s good too.
