VIDEO: Big Picture – Low pressure, Autumn changes coming

Settled weather is dominating NZ but the next cold/wet/windy change is heading to Australia’s south-east and NZ next week.

Severe weather may be possible in NZ next week (it’s not yet locked in) and in parts of south-eastern Australia this weekend. Before this weather arrives temperatures will lift above average, especially around NZ with nor’westers along with Australian and subtropical airflows all combining.

This weekend and the start of next week look above average in NZ but the cold change in Australia’s south-east looks likely to reach NZ mid to late next week (remember Autumn’s weather is more changeable so it’s harder to lock in Southern Ocean storms too far in advance).
