NZ weather forecast to May 1st

Heavy rain moves north of Auckland city today but remains in the north of the region and should be clearing from Coromandel Peninsula by the time you’re watching this. The wet weather will move up the eastern side of Northland over the next two days, falling apart as it does so.

High pressure will be parked over the Tasman Sea for the next week ahead, bringing a westerly flow into some parts of the country, but lighter winds and a low chance of severe weather across the nation. But there will be some cloud and showers into both main islands, but generally speaking it’s dry and calm for many regions over the coming week.

Rain will also affect Southland and South Westland, with Southland and Otago warming up on Saturday only to be replaced with colder air and rain on Sunday in some areas. This may repeat itself later next week too.

Compared to previous weeks, it is a much more settled week of weather on the way for many regions.
