Low pressure will move over the upper North Island this week, bringing hit and miss pockets of heavier rain into northern facing sides of both the North Island and South Island. It’s a bit of a messy forecast from a rain point of view over the next 7 days – so keep up to date with your local forecasts as we expect some totals to change.
The low itself isn’t overly stormy and brings in a messy rain forecast. It’s also followed by a wintry southerly, especially for the South Island this week as temperatures drop and snow falls on the mountains and ranges – although totals may be low in some locations, there is the risk of some heavier snow for a time further northwards as moisture and cold air meet.
High pressure is growing going into the weekend – we track the risk of showers.
