Wednesday’s national forecast

Anticyclonic weather gives us a settled spell of weather today. The odd shower continues about the fringes, mainly Hawkes Bay northwards for the east of the North Island and down in Fiordland for the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Mostly sunny with light south to southeast breezes. In the afternoon there is the chance of a few isolated showers moving into western Bay Of Plenty and the Coromandel, low risk of a shower moving into Auckland in the evening also.

Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, dry spells too. Southeasterlies tend more easterly around midday. Wairarapa may remain mostly dry during the day with cloudy periods and the odd sunny spell
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island
Mostly sunny with any morning cloud clearing, southeasterlies die out late afternoon.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington
Sunny after any early cloud clears, light winds tend northerly late afternoon or evening.
High: 16

Nelson
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough
Sunny skies. Calm then light northerlies from afternoon.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds tending northeast about the coast, cold to start in the morning.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast
Sunny with light winds. Cloudy about Fiordland however with drizzle turning to rain in the afternoon, northerlies.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Otago
Sunny with light winds tending northwest inland and about Southland, some evening high cloud.
Highs: 14-16
