Winter snap, strong winds, downpours, alpine snow

It’s still warm in a number of places but a colder change is coming nationwide by late week with a burst of Friday thunderstorms or downpours possible in the North Island following heavy West Coast rain further south prior.

A windy southerly change will also ramp up later this week, especially around central NZ and the lower North Island.

But this weekend a large anticyclone is rolling in with drier skies and lighter winds, especially as we go into Sunday.
