A southerly airflow lies over the South Island today and the lower North Island, meanwhile the upper North Island sees sea breezes. Showers for many parts of the country today although looking dry about the far south.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of cloud with isolated showers, especially this morning and again this afternoon with possible downpours. Light winds or sea breezes.
Highs: 24-26
 
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower about, mainly afternoon and evening. Some may become heavy inland then easing later on. Southeasterly winds for most.
Highs: 18-23
 
Eastern North Island
Cloudy with southerly winds, drizzle about the Wairarapa spreads northwards after midday.
Highs: 19-20
 
Wellington
Cloudy with showers at times during the day, breezy south to southeasterly winds strong in Cook Strait.
High: 14
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, easing in the afternoon and dry areas moving in. Breezy southeasterly winds strong about the outer Sounds and Cook Strait.
Highs: 14-16
 
Canterbury
Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, gradually easing during the day and mostly clearing by evening. The odd drizzle patch may linger till overnight inland. Southeasterly winds.
High: 12-13
 
West Coast
Morning rain for North Westland eases away and mostly clears by midday, staying fairly cloudy. South Westland is looking mainly dry, also expect some sun especially the further south one goes. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-17
 
Southland & Otago
Sunny areas about Southland, fairly cloudy for coastal Otago although there may be sunny areas break through in the afternoon. Central Otago becoming mostly sunny after morning cloud breaks away. East to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-17
