A frontal system moves northwards over the country today, ahead of it is warmer northwesterlies and behind winds change cooler southerly. Most regions will experience rain or showers at times point today with heavy rain possible for central parts of the country.
Auckland & Northland
Mostly cloudy with northwesterlies building, late afternoon / evening rain.

Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells with northwesterly winds, cloud increases late afternoon
onwards then in the evening some patchy rain moves in.
Mostly cloudy with northwesterly winds, patchy showers from mid
afternoon.
High: 22
Central North Island
Mostly cloudy with a few patchy light showers then turning to rain mid
afternoon, northwesterly winds ease mid afternoon onwards becoming light.
High: 20
Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy skies, scattered rain develops early in the morning (mainly
Hawkes Bay southwards) with northwesterly winds. Winds change southerly early
afternoon about the Wairarapa then pushing into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne mid to
late afternoon.
Cloudy with rain developing early in the morning, northwesterly winds.
Winds change southerly late afternoon / early evening with rain then
easing.
Highs: 18-19
Western North Island
Cloudy with rain developing in the morning, northwesterlies change
southerly early to mid afternoon. Rain may become briefly heavy for a time on
the wind change then easing.
Northwesterly winds with patchy showers, winds change gusty southerly
around midday bringing rain (possibly heavy) which eases in the evening.
Rain, becoming heavy for a time during the morning then easing afternoon as
light winds tend southeasterly.
Rain develops in the morning possibly heavy as northwesterly winds change
southerly then easing to the odd light shower in the afternoon, east to
southeasterly winds by evening.
Cloudy with patchy showers / drizzle for much of the day, cool southerlies.
A few areas of rain possible at times amongst drizzle into northern parts of
North Canterbury then easing in the afternoon.
Hokitika southwards expect a few morning showers to clear then sunny areas
develop, southeasterly winds. Further north expect morning rain possibly heavy
then easing to showers by midday, easterlies.

Coastal Otago
Cloudy with patchy drizzle, easing from afternoon and clearing evening.
Cool southerlies.
The odd morning shower clears then cloud breaks away late afternoon or
evening, southeaterly winds.
The odd light shower eases and clears by evening, a few sunny spells
starting to make their way through by late afternoon. Cool southerlies tend
southeasterly later in the day.
