How can your organisation go on getting it so wrong for the East Coast of the South Island , Oamaru is part of New Zealand and has farmers and fishermen too watching keenly for weather reports. I’d guess that 90% of what is forecast for Oamaru is WRONG. We had no snow during last week – it was fabulous here…….how can an organisation get it so WRONG so often? Perhaps Oamaru doesn’t matter but as a tourist resort it is important , for farmers and fishermen too.

IT IS NOT GOOD enough – today is typical. Forecast rain in morning and heavy later in the day TV1….actuality the sky has been clear , blue and sun is out – it’s been hot / warm enough to walk around in a plain tee all day (yes , cooler towards evening but it is Autumn)

PLEASE ‘Some one Out THERE’ try to be accurate when forecasting for this area. At present your organisation is a joke. Not often correct – occasionally yes.

I wonder if ‘anyone ‘ will read this? Respond? and ACTION please!

Not sure how to respond to that. Your taxes fund MetService and NIWA – in other words, you pay money every year to two other businesses who provide forecasts for the NZ public. We are entirely free. Perhaps try those two Government forecasters instead of ripping down a small business that is simply providing you with an entirely free alternative that you don’t have to use. Also, TV1 uses MetService – the one you help fund. Our forecasts are independent and the one above for Canterbury (and our 10 day ones for Oamaru) had a different forecast to TV1. You seem a bit confused about who you’re complaining about.

Anyway, hope you feel a bit better now after venting.
All the best,
Philip Duncan
