Thursday’s national forecast

A front moves northwards over the South Island today while a southwesterly airflow affects the North Island. Most regions stay dry however the West Coast of the South Island sees rain, also some parts of Otago may see an isolated shower this afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Fairly cloudy but areas of sun breaking through this afternoon, cloud thickens again in the evening. The Bay Of Plenty may be mostly sunny all day long with cloud not increasing there till later on. Breezy West to Sou’West winds for all.
Highs: 20-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Some morning sun then becoming mostly cloudy by midday, late evening or overnight patchy showers / drizzle. Breezy westerly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud from late afternoon or evening, light winds tend easterly in the afternoon about Hawkes Bay.
Highs: 24-27

Wellington

Sunny areas with brisk North to Nor’West winds.
High: 19-20

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and some high cloud, north to northwesterly winds become brisk in the afternoon then ease later in the day. Relatively cooler temperatures for Nelson due to the more onshore nature of the afternoon northerly winds.
Highs: 22-30

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds change southerly in the evening bringing some cloud.
High: 29

West Coast

Cloudy with rain about South Westland pushing into North Westland around midday, rain eases in the evening. Northerly winds.
High: 17

Southland & Otago

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, gusty westerly winds. Southerlies about the Otago coastline for a time may bring an isolated shower or two this afternoon.
Highs: 20-23
