Thursday Newsfeed: The heat is on!

A northwest airflow ensures most eastern regions will be hot and sunny today, temperatures will likely hit 30 degrees and may even get into the mid 30’s for parts of Canterbury. Perhaps coastal Hawkes Bay may benefit from a coastal east to northeast breeze.

All over the North Island has a summer like day, there may be areas of cloud (and a shower for eastern Northland) this morning for the upper half but this breaks away.

An occluded front pushes showers north along the West Coast with heavy rain moving into Fiordland, Buller stays dry and sunny. Southland may get a shower or two about the coast, perhaps turning to rain this evening. Otago should stay mostly dry but expect some mid level cloud, perhaps a few showers or some rain in the south of the region this evening.
