Thursday Newsfeed: Autumnal weather means highs, lows & cold fronts

A windy sou’wester kicks in for northern NZ on Thursday while a cold southerly arrives in the lower South Island bringing another dusting of snow to the mountains and ranges. Many places in between have either dry or mostly dry weather but a few showers will be caught up in the south to south-west airflow today.

Sorry, but our weather videos this Thursday (for NZ and Australia) will be delayed by just a few hours – and won’t be published until mid to late afternoon.

The south to south west winds will spread up NZ but a nor’wester will continue for a time in the north east of the North Island.

High pressure is returning to New Zealand.

By Friday high pressure covers much of the North Island and the very upper South Island, but windy nor’westers (ahead of the next cold front coming out from Tasmania) will strengthen in the lower South Island.
