Sunday’s national forecast – A cold front and some rain

A cold front is moving into the South Island today bringing rain and a cooler south to south west change behind it.

There will be showers around the North Island developing today.

NORTH ISLAND:
North to north west winds developing today. Hot in Hawke’s Bay and around Waikato and Northland. Clouds developing with patchy showers around the North Island. Rain tonight in Wellington and the lower part of the island with strengthening winds.
Highs: 20 to 28

SOUTH ISLAND:
Rain spreads up the South Island with heavy falls on the West Coast. Patchy rain and showers around Southland, Otago and Canterbury. Southerly change moving up the island reaching Cook Strait by midnight. Dry in Nelson and Marlborough, some rain possible tonight. 
Highs: 15 to 25
