A high is centred in the Tasman Sea today while a westerly airflow lies over New Zealand.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny spells, cloud increasing during this morning about the Waikato then further north from afternoon bringing the risk of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. The Bay Of Plenty is mainly sunny today, perhaps some cloud at times from afternoon. Light westerlies freshen from the southwest after midday.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy areas and occasional sun with west to northwesterly winds, may even be a light shower or two otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 20

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, winds from the northwest although an afternoon sea breeze may develop about some coastal fringes.
Highs: 25-26

Wellington

High cloud, decreasing later this afternoon. Gusty north to northwesterly winds ease later this afternoon also.
High: 20

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and some high cloud, northwesterly winds, easing this afternoon and perhaps tending more northerly or northeast about coastal parts of Marlborough. Southwesterlies about Nelson for much of today.
Highs: 25-28

Canterbury

High cloud, decreasing this afternoon with sun becoming more frequent. Winds tending northwest for most although a northeast breeze develops near the coast in the afternoon.
Highs: 23-25

West Coast
Cloudy areas with the odd shower possible, showers more likely about Fiordland. Winds from the west or southwest.

Highs: 18-21

Southland & Otago

High cloud with the odd spot of rain possible about coastal Southland, winds becoming gusty from the northwest about coastal Southland. Showers from late afternoon or evening with a cool southwest change, strong about coastal areas.
Highs: 19-25
