Temperatures were peaking in the mid 20s at lunchtime today throughout much of the North Island with Auckland on 25 as well as Palmerston North, Levin and Ohakea.
Humidity was also a factor in the upper north with east and north easterly winds making it feel more sultry.
Across the Strait and Nelson, Blenheim, Timaru and Dunedin were 23 degrees with quite a bit of sunshine and northerly winds.
Gore has the lowest temperature in the country this hour with just 14 degrees.

Hi
I’m just curious about the spiralling cloud formation the the North East of NZ in the satellite picture. Is that another cyclone forming or is it too far south?

At the moment we are keeping a close eye north of NZ as there’s considerable activity.

I was looking at that cloud formation last night on channel 1 news and thought it was strange that Karen Olsen didn’t comment on it. I started thinking I had lost my touch to predict the weather. Pleased I am not the only one to have wondered about it. Whether it comes to something or not!……
