Friday’s national forecast

A ridge brings mainly settled conditions today. The East Coast of the North Island sees cloud and the odd shower, however. There’s also a chance of low cloud or fog this morning about the South Island’s East Coast.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light winds tending south to southeast. Some cloud about Northland, mainly in the east, with the chance of a shower or two.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light easterly winds. Winds may tend westerly in the afternoon about Taranaki.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower. East to southeast winds.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, with some high cloud during the day. Light northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

Morning low cloud or fog breaks to mostly sunny weather, with some high cloud during the day. East to northeast breezes become a little breezy near the coast in the afternoon.
High: 13

West Coast

Sunny spells with light north to northeasterly winds. Some cloud moves into South Westland from afternoon.
Highs: 14

Southland & Otago

Any morning low cloud or fog clears to a mostly sunny day, although some cloud may hang about coastal Otago. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-15
