A low exiting Australia this week will bring some significant West Coast rain, with spillover into the east and south affecting Southland, Otago and Canterbury – and maybe even Nelson/Tasman and Marlborough to some degree.

The North Island does get clipped by this wet weather too, mostly in the west of the island – and there remains some uncertainty about wet weather chances in the upper North Island this Saturday (we show you the latest due to a possible area of subtropical low pressure).

From a wind point of view we’re not done with the windy weather yet – but it won’t be as intense as it was yesterday/Sunday. West to NW winds pick up further this afternoon and tonight around the South Island and lower North Island. Winds will be mild in temperature for many though, with subtropical connections for a time in a number of regions this week.
