Wintry change coming for SI and lower NI

Some wet weather, along with a drop in temperatures, will move into the lower South Island later on Sunday and over Monday, before reaching central NZ (upper South Island, lower North Island by Tuesday. However before it arrives some places this weekend may see a lift in temperatures.

Snow is forecast for the mountains and ski fields in both main islands around Monday and Tuesday.

By Wednesday next week NZ returns to the south-west airflow with southern and western areas most likely to get the cloud and showers thanks to high pressure parked way out over Brisbane and the Tasman Sea.
