The western side of New Zealand is getting the best weather today in a south to southwesterly airflow.

Regions that typically come out best in these situations are Nelson and Bay Of Plenty, today is no different but the Bay Of Plenty and Whakatane more specifically tops them all with a high of 20 degrees at the moment (4:00pm).

An afternoon sea breeze (northerly) is keeping Nelson a touch cooler on 17.4 but it nearly cracked 18 around 3:00pm before the wind got up a touch.
