Pocket of rain heavy enough to cause flooding and winds strong enough to cause isolated power outages are possible over the next 48 hours as a small but potent sub-tropical low drops south and pushes into high pressure.

Rain could be heavy at times in eastern parts of the North Island and maybe into the east to north eastern South Island now too in the days ahead.

Winds will be blustery from the easterly quarter at first, fading mid week and then returning at the weekend as west to nor’west winds
