A weak front moves into the West Coast of the South Island today bringing rain or showers, light showers then some rain for Southland this evening. The North Island sees a few light showers out west also but brightening up this afternoon for Auckland.

North Island

Mostly cloudy out west with a few light showers. Northland is dry though with sunny areas from this morning, Auckland dries out this afternoon with sun then breaking through, expect light winds. Dry in the east with high cloud and some sun.

South Island

The West Coast sees some rain or showers develop this morning, easing this evening. A few light showers or drizzle patches develop about Southland and Otago this afternoon, Southland sees rain this evening, easterly quarter winds. Canterbury and Marlborough has sun / high cloud today, lower level cloud thickens up this afternoon south of Banks Peninsula then South Canterbury and inland Mid Canterbury sees a few light showers develop, clearing late evening. Nelson has some sun, cloud thickens up a little this afternoon.
