Upper North Island
Lower North Island
Sunny areas and some cloud in the west with west to northwest
winds, cloud thickens in the evening with a few showers possible later in the
evening / overnight. Sunny along the east coast with light winds in the morning,
afternoon east to northeast winds for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. The Wairarapa
sees northwesterly breezes by midday. Wellington sees periods of cloud and sunny
areas, winds gusty from the northwest then a shower or two possible in the
evening.
Upper South Island
Mostly cloudy in the west, early rain
eases to a few showers with northwesterly winds changing westerly for a time.
Westerlies revert back to the northwest in the afternoon, in the evening showers
becoming heavier again with possible thunderstorms Greymouth southwards. Mostly
sunny in the east with high cloud, winds gusty from the northwest strong at
times about the top of the South Island and inland areas. A southerly breeze may
push into coastal areas Banks Peninsula southwards around midday then die away
by evening.
Lower South Island
Cloudy in the west with occasional
showers and breezy northwesterlies, showers turning to rain in the afternoon
with the chance of a heavy fall at times and perhaps a thunderstorm or two also.
A few morning showers clear coastal Otago then mostly sunny with some high cloud
and north to northwesterly winds, in the evening a few further showers move in
on a southerly change possibly heavy. Southland has sunny areas and increasing cloud, a few
spots of rain by midday then turning to rain. Rain clears in the evening, gusty
northwesterly winds.
