Sunday: Spring weather with southern rain, central winds, eastern warmth & northern calm (+8 maps)

Rain clouds are moving in to the very south west of the country while elsewhere high pressure continues – as well as high November temperatures in the east.

A large portion of the South Island will again be over 8 degrees above normal. All of New Zealand is warmer than average today although some regions may not be quite as hot as they were on Saturday, due to increased cloud cover and a slight change in winds.

Some areas will have strong winds too, mostly around the Southern Alps, parts of Southland and the lower North Island.

Rain moves into Fiordland and Westland with totals approaching 100mm. Rain will later spread into Southland too.
