Some news outlets nail it when we have a storm coming in, others get caught up in hype and some barely cover the weather.
Weather news stories frequently dominate the news ratings and since WeatherWatch.co.nz came on the scene back in 2005 there have been significant changes to the way some media cover news stories.
“There are now far less leading news stories about Fiordland receiving rain warnings” jokes head weather analyst Philip Duncan. “There was a time when all warnings made the headline news, now it’s the ones that are more relevant to the public – this is how it should be as it minimises false alarms and gives the right amount of weight for particular warnings”.
WeatherWatch.co.nz works well with the mainstream media – and small media outlets – and have a history of providing news or interviews to almost all main news outlets at one time or another.
So we want to know, outside of WeatherWatch.co.nz, which news media outlets do you trust to have the best weather coverage?
We rate them on the following:
We’ve taken the more mainstream news outlets for you to chose from – they are in random order below
*PLEASE NOTE* – you can vote for up to 3 media outlets for each poll
THIS POLL IS BEING RE-PUBLISHED to get more votes – if you have already voted you cannot vote again.
Votes will be released at the end of the year through a news story we will put together.

Voted the 3 papers for the best, its written for the main reason though some of the websites can be ok too.TV’s the worst because though daily one’s presenter is a comedian and tv3s is like a script with the current conditions in the middle the top, eastside westside, the top of the SI etc.

Only ever really follow from the web and there it’s Weather Watch and Met Service.
Never read the papers other then on-line and then don’t bother with their weather because of above.
Watch TV1 and TV3, with some Prime. Watch TV1 for laughs and the other two because they’re so missable.
