Merry Christmas NZ! RainWatch for Dec 25th

Good morning and Merry Christmas to those across the country and around the world checking in with us today!

After yesterday’s downpours (and last night’s drizzle) many farmers and growers in northern New Zealand are smiling – but WeatherWatch.co.nz received a “flood” of questions yesterday along this line: “Arrrghh, will it be dry on Christmas Day?!?”

Well, we have good news – this morning is looking mostly dry with remaining drizzle in the north burning off nice and quickly.

In Bay of Plenty, a region that had one of the higher risks of a wet morning, conditions are drying out quickly – although a few remaining wet patches remain the region is mainly dry.  This afternoon a downpour is possible due to the light winds and afternoon heating – but isolated/hit and miss and not widespread.

As of 9am a few showers were affecting Bay of Plenty, Waikato and greater Auckland. All were fairly light.

Southland is mainly dry – but a couple of light showers are floating about the region – nothing much though.

That’s about it – the sun will start to shine in the cloudy north too as we head towards lunchtime…and warm up a bit after a coolish start.

Eat well. Laugh lots. Drive safely. Have a wonderful Christmas Day across New Zealand.
