Melbourne’s gloomy and cooler weather will be coming to an end with 30-degree heat in store for the weekend.

Temperatures have remained below 18 degrees in Melbourne since Monday with cool southwesterly winds maintaining low cloud and patchy showers. The average maximum temperature for November is 22 degrees and the city can expect to warm well above that this weekend.

Drier northerly winds will establish over southeast Australia during the weekend, which will help to drag some interior heat into Victoria.

Melbourne should reach 30 degrees on Saturday and it looks even warmer on Sunday. This is likely to be the city’s warmest weekend since March.
