The next two days across the North Island will be especially humid, cloudy and for some people quite wet as sub-tropical air shifts back down over the island.

Across Monday areas of drizzle and light to moderate patches of rain will drift across the North Island, with heavier downpours expected on Tuesday and isolated thunderstorms here and there across the island.

South Islanders are likely to have a mostly dry start to the week but a couple of drizzle patches and perhaps very isolated afternoon downpours are possible.

The bulk of the wet weather over Monday and Tuesday will be in the North Island, with isolated afternoon downpours popping up in the ranges of both islands from Wednesday through until the weekend.

Most main centres are looking dry or mostly dry after Tuesday.
