Heavy rain continues to move along the north-east of the North Island today with drier weather coming in behind it.
Over the days ahead high pressure will increase around NZ but will be centred offshore – so a few showers are possible in both main islands this weekend, but with large dry areas.
Next week a large subtropical low will likely drift southwards towards NZ with an increasing easterly wind in the north… but high pressure around southern NZ may weaken this low, or limit how far south it can track. It’s still not locked in – but we show you the latest.

Because those maps are public domain so ignoring it would be unusual for a weather forecaster…
