Friday’s national forecast – High pressure, mainly settled

Mainly settled today thanks to high pressure covering the country, conditions are mainly sunny also but there may be some cloud too especially for the upper North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny, some morning cloud Auckland northwards breaks away, perhaps some early fog about inland spots then clearing. Late afternoon or evening cloud moves in between Coromandel and Bay Of Plenty bringing the risk of a light shower. Winds are light tending onshore in the afternoon.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny with light winds, any morning fog breaks away. Light winds.
Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny weather, a few clouds possible. Light winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington

A mainly sunny day, a touch of high cloud possible. Light northerly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly sunny with a touch of high cloud possible, light winds tending easterly in the afternoon for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson. Some cloud late in the day for Nelson and the Sounds.
Highs: 18-20

Canterbury

A mainly sunny, perhaps a touch of high cloud, a cold start especially inland. Light winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon across the plains.
Highs: 17-18

West Coast

A mix of sun and cloud, any coastal morning showers for North Westland clear. Morning for possible for inland Buller then clearing. Showers develop about Fiordland from afternoon, rain overnight. Light winds for most.
Highs: 16-19

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds. Afternoon northeasterlies for coastal Otago.
Highs: 18-20
