Downpours & showers developing, but still some large dry areas

NZ is between two lows and one big high right now, bringing different airflows into different parts of each main island. While much of NZ is largely dry we do some a little wet weather today – and over the several days ahead those showers increase, with some heavy falls and thunderstorms possible.

Apart from a cooler change arriving tonight in the South Island and going into Thursday, many places will notice temperatures lifting this weekend and going into next week thanks to subtropical northerlies and Australian fuelled nor’westers.

We track temperatures and 7 day rainfall in today’s video.
