Cooler and windier across NZ today

It may be sunnier for many people today but there’s definitely a nip in the air with winds from the southerly quarter for most areas.

The coldest centre this hour is Waiouru on just 2 degrees.  Christchurch, Queenstown, Wanaka and Akaroa are only doing a bit better on 5 degrees.

Wellington has a gale southerly and 8 degrees while further north Paraparaumu has 7 degrees and a southerly gusting to 70km/h.

Taupo has 8 degrees, New Plymouth has 10 and Auckland is on 14 degrees with a brisk sou’wester.

The warmest main centre this hour is Whangarei on 15 degrees.
