Rain is gradually becoming heavier over Northland and Auckland this morning with light rain now also falling over Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato and Taranaki.
WeatherWatch.co.nz says humid conditions with drizzle and patchy light rain should continue across many regions over the next 24 to 48 hours.
Estimates are that rainfall totals will be 15 to 40mm across the upper North Island, with 15mm more likely in parts of eastern Waikato and 40mm totals in parts of Coromandel and the ranges of Northland.
The system is slow moving allowing the light rain to have plenty of time to absorb into the soil – exactly what farmers will be needing.
It’s humid and warm too – many centres in the North Island around between 19 and 21.

Only 1.2 (note the point) here so far in Rukuhia – just south of Hamilton. Very light, almost non existent patchy drizzle throughout the day. I hope it improves during the night, the farm sure needs alot more than that total.

Rain has stopped in Kaitaia about an hour or so ago , have a strong northerly blowing now.

We have had 50mm of rain fall since about 2 this morning here in Kaitaia and it is still coming in from the north. Hve had a good steady N NE blowing most of the day. May it continue for the next week !!

Only 6mm has fallen so far. Would really like some heavy rain to fill our irrigation dam. Looking at the rain radar is seems it has missed us down the west coast.

We have just hit 25mm of rain. Only light rain now almost looks like its clearing a tad
