Wednesday’s national forecast – ENE airflow

An east to northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a front moves onto the far north bringing showers or perhaps some rain.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy with a few showers, areas of rain for Northland especially in the east. Rain north of Auckland may become heavy in the evening. Large dry areas too. Easterly winds strengthen after midday.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy with east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-20

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with showers, easing from afternoon with dry spells increasing. Wairarapa is dry for much of the day. Southeasterlies tend northeast in the evening.
Highs: 16-18

Wellington

Mostly cloudy but some sun breaking through at times especially afternoon, southeasterly winds tend northeast at night.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough & Nelson

A mix of sun and cloud for Nelson. Mostly cloudy for Marlborough, sunny spells possible late afternoon, east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-18

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy, there may be a shower in the morning, sunny spells possible in the afternoon. East to northeasterly winds becoming gusty about the coast.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast

Partly cloudy, cloud thickens later in the day with some patchy rain overnight south of Greymouth. Light winds.
Highs: 19-22

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with a few clouds, Otago has more frequent cloud especially about the coast, east to northeasterly winds becoming strong near the coast.
Highs: 14-22
