A dry start with some sun then late morning or around midday showers move in, northwesterlies change southwest in the afternoon.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning rain then easing to showers around midday as northwesterlies change westerly.
Highs: 12-16

Eastern North Island
Morning high cloud, may be a few spots of rain then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon as northwesterly winds tend westerly. Westerlies strengthen, mainly about Wairarapa.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington
Early showers clear then mostly sunny, breezy northwesterly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds.
High: 17-19

Canterbury
Mostly sunny, northwesterly winds (becoming strong about inland areas) tend southwest late afternoon with some cloud.
Highs: 16-19

West Coast
Areas of rain or showers, west to southwesterly winds strengthen from afternoon.
Highs: 14-15

Southland & Otago
Showers develop in the morning about Southland with strong to gale Westerly winds, Otago is mainly dry although a shower or two is possible from midday as west to southwest winds strengthen rising to gale at times.
