Wednesday’s national forecast

Breezy east to northeasterly winds over the North Island today. North of Waikato and about the Bay of Plenty expect cloudy areas and some sunshine, showers at times also. Showers becoming a little more widespread north of Auckland in the evening.

Mostly sunny in Manawatu, Taranaki and about the Central North Island with a little cloud. There may be some sunshine about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne in the morning however cloud then increasing with drizzle patches by midday turning to rain at night.

Rain about Kapiti, Wellington and Wairarapa easing during the day. Mid teen temperatures for most getting up to 17 in Northland. Cooler about Wellington, along the east coast and parts of the Central North Island with high’s of 12 or 13 expected.

Mostly sunny on the West Coast of the South Island with gusty easterlies. In Buller expect some cloud and the chance of the odd shower spreading from the east. Rain about Tasman, Marlborough and the Kaikoura Coast where there will be heavy falls at times then easing at night.

Southeasterly breezes in Canterbury, some rain along the foothills in Mid and North Canterbury eases a little at night, areas of drizzle elsewhere in Canterbury with dry periods at times also. Drizzle patches on the Otago coast however dry inland and about Southland with sunny areas and some cloud, easterly breezes.

Mild temperatures in the mid teens on the West Coast, a degree or two cooler in Nelson. 10 to 12 degree high’s can be expected in most other areas.
