Warm up north, cooler in the south

Temperatures are into the low to mid 20s this afternoon across some northern and eastern parts of the North Island as winds blow in from the north or northwest.

Over the mainland, cooler temperatures are the norm with plenty of cloud cover.

Hastings is the hotspot this afternoon on 24 degrees whereas the coolest centre goes to Oamaru, North Otago with just 10 degrees.
