We rate the travel conditions for road, air and sea for those heading away for the long weekend on either Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning. We also take a look at the weather in Australia and the tropics for the long weekend.

Please note, this is more of a comfort guide for travelling – please check detailed marine forecasts before heading out on the water this weekend.  This video is intended for ferry and airline passengers, and drivers/passengers for motor vehicles..

Phil,
Just returned tonight from Brisbane after a 2 week holiday where the weather has been almost perfect.
Your comments on exceptionally hopt temps were spot on.
Today we drove from the sunshine coast where the sea breeze kept things pleasant at around 26-27 but as soon as we hit the Bruce highway (about 10 km inland) things warmed up to 37 then briefly 40 degs before dropping down to a “cool” 28 deg in Brisbane !! Opening the car windows was a bit like opening the oven – very exciting with the thoughts of returning to good old NZ temps…
