We’re in the middle of a cold change bringing wintry weather but by Saturday sub-tropical winds move in.

Between now and Saturday a high will move through bringing an even colder night tonight with frosts perhaps as far north as Auckland.

But this weekend sub-tropical winds return bringing downpours, an isolated thunderstorm or two and a colder change by Sunday night/next Monday.
