South to southwesterly winds ease over New Zealand today with some high pressure moving in.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning rain clears, becoming mostly sunny by midday. Fresh southerlies ease.
Highs: 13-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Any early showers clear then sunny areas increase, showers linger about the Central Plateau though with snow flurries to 500m, they clear up late afternoon. Southeasterlies (strong to gale about the coast) ease and die out in the evening.
Highs: 4-12

Eastern North Island

Showers, clearing late afternoon or early evening. Rain may be heavy first thing about northern Hawkes Bay and Gisborne then easing. Snow to 400m. Gusty cold southerlies die out later in the day.
High: 9-11

Wellington

Showers clear around midday then sunny spells increase, strong southerlies ease dying out in the evening.
Highs: 8-9

Marlborough & Nelson

Any early showers clear then becoming sunny, fresh southerlies die out in the afternoon. Winds tend northerly in the afternoon for Nelson.
Highs: 10-12

Canterbury

Any morning showers clear then becoming sunny, southwesterlies die away in the afternoon.
Highs: 8-10

West Coast

Sunny, some evening cloud. Southeasterly winds die away.
Highs: 9-12

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy for Southland with a few showers, Otago has partly cloudy skies. Light west to northwesterly winds, fresh about the coast.
Highs: 8-9
