Tuesday’s national forecast

A front in the Tasman Sea moves a little closer towards New Zealand today however still lies to the west of the country. The anticyclone to the east is slowly losing it’s grip.

Auckland & Northland
A period of morning showers then clearing by midday, a mix of sunny and cloudy spells during the afternoon. Northeasterly breezes. Northland could still see an isolated shower or two in the afternoon.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny and cloudy spells with easterly breezes, a few showers may move into the Bay Of Plenty in the afternoon then clearing evening.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island
Drizzle patches about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne with easterly winds, long dry spells too. About Wairarapa the odd sunny spell sneaks in during the afternoon, northeasterlies there.
Highs: 13-15

Wellington & Western North Island
Mostly sunny with a few clouds, east to northeast breezes.
Highs: 13-16

Nelson
Cloudy periods, a few sunny spells possible in the afternoon. Light winds tend northeast after midday.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury & Marlborough
Sunny spells and some cloud. Northeasterlies, breezy about coastal Canterbury.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast
Cloudy periods with northeasterlies, chance of the odd shower.
Highs: 14-15

Coastal Otago
Cloudy spells with the odd sunny break at times, brisk northeasterlies.
High: 13

Central Otago
A few morning spots of rain possible then expect sunny areas and plenty of high cloud, northeasterly breezes.

Southland
Chance of an early morning spot of rain then expect mostly sunny weather with some high cloud, northeasterly breezes.
