An anticyclone slowly gets nudged to the northeast today as a weakening front pushes northwards over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with some developing high cloud, mainly later in the day. There may be a touch of early fog / mist Waikato northwards then quickly breaking away. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 22-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Any morning cloud breaks then mostly sunny with some developing high cloud Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-23

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds tending easterly in the afternoon (sea breeze).
Highs: 26-28

Wellington
Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, blustery north to northwesterly winds.
High: 17-18

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud from afternoon, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 22-27

Canterbury
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, northwesterlies change southwest during the evening. Overnight patchy rain or showers.
Highs: 23-25

West Coast
Cloudy with the odd shower, rain about Fiordland in the morning spreads into North Westland during the afternoon. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-19

Southland & Otago
Morning showers about Southland then sunny spells break through from afternoon, southwesterly winds. Otago has some sun and high cloud then a few afternoon showers / spits of rain as light winds tend southwest. Drying out overnight.
Highs: 15-21
