A ridge of high pressure covers the upper South Island and North Island today bringing mainly settled weather, a northerly airflow picks up for the lower South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Some morning cloud then mostly sunny, may be some cloud again later in the evening. Light west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-20

Eastern North Island
Risk of an early coastal shower otherwise expect sunny weather with south to southwesterly winds dying out in the evening.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington
Sunny, north to northwesterly winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, afternoon north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Canterbury
Sunny, there may be a touch of high cloud. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

West Coast
The odd shower about Fiordland spreading into the rest of South Westland around midday then rain moving in by evening. Rain spreads further north into North Westland overnight. Some sun possible about North Westland in the morning before cloud increases. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, a few spots of rain possible mainly morning (mainly about Southland) then again in the evening. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-23
