Tuesday’s national forecast

Breezy west to southwesterly winds over the North Island today, expect a mix of sunny areas and some cloud with a few showers at times mainly in the morning. On the east coast however it will be sunny in the morning but a few showers spread north in the afternoon possibly heavy then clearing in the evening.

Becoming sunny on the east coast of the South Island this morning with light winds tending northeast in the afternoon near the coast. Sunny in Nelson with light winds. A mix of sunny areas and some cloud on the West Coast with westerly breezes, a few showers in Fiordland however. Southland will have areas of cloud during the day and there is the chance of a brief showers spreading from the west but it is likely to remain mostly dry.

16 to 17 degrees can be expected around most of the North Island today, Wellington and parts of the Central North Island may remain around 14 to 15 however. 17 to 18 degrees can be expected about Canterbury up through to Marlborough and in Nelson, 14 degrees on average for the West Coast, Southland and Otago.
